Art FAQ's

How do I choose my art?

We know it can be fun and challenging to be your own designer. We suggest that you first and foremost choose something you like and is pleasing to your eye. This is by far the single most important aspect of selecting art for your home or office.

How do I hang it?

All of our art comes with a wire hanger on the back. Ready to hang.

Will my art fit in the place I want it?

The outside dimension of the art is displayed in the description of the art. We suggest taking pages from a newspaper and placing it on the wall to determine whether or not the size of the art you have chosen will work. This will help ensure a correct fit on your wall.

What kind of glazing do you use and how do I clean it?

Every print we carry has been carefully reviewed by our design experts. Based on our 32+ years of experience and the specific aesthetics of the prints themselves, our team of experts have designed the framing and matting to accentuate the art and give you a unique and high quality piece of framed art.

What is an offset lithographic reproduction?

A lithograph is created by using a printing technique based on the principle that oil and water do not mix. Using an oil-based ink or grease crayon, an image is drawn on a flat stone or metal plate. Water is applied to the surface and is repelled by the area where oil-based images have been drawn. The entire surface is then coated with an oil-based ink that adheres only to the areas drawn in oil, ink or crayon. The image is then printed on paper. Lithography became a popular printing technique because thousands of exact replicas could be made that were like drawings on paper, without degradation of the image. An offset lithograph is an industrial version of the same printing technique as lithography. By using modern printing presses, high quality reproductions are produced faster and in higher volumes than with manually-produced lithographs.

What is matting?

Matting is a stiff paper that surrounds a print or poster. Our mats come in a variety of colors and textures.

What are your frames made of?

All of our frames either come in solid wood or emafyl valucore with various finishes. We only use the highest quality products.

What is acrylic glazing?

Picture quality acrylic glazing is a pane or sheet of plastic composite that is often used in place of glass. It is used wherever safety and weight are a concern. Acrylic is a lot more resistant when it comes to impact and weighs considerably less than glass.

What kind of mats do we use?

Our mats are purchased from various vendors and are considered high quality paper mats. They come in several different colors and textured designs and have a buffered calcium carbonate backing. They are cut to fit the size of the image they are accenting and may have a bevel cut, v-groove or open v-groove cut on the mat to enhance the art.

How accurate are the measurements for your products?

We strive to give you the most accurate information possible. Your product should match the size represented on our site within a very close margin of error.

Are the images on your site accurate to the actual color?

We have made every effort to bring you as accurate a representation of the finished product as possible. It is our goal to show accurate color and detail, but we advise our customers to be aware that minor color changes can occur between print runs, and that color setting can vary between different computer monitors.

Do you sell limited edition prints or originals?

No. Currently we are not carrying any limited edition, giclee, lithographic or serigraph prints. We also do not carry any original artwork. What kind of art do you sell?

All of the art we sell on our site are lithographics reproductions which are open-edition fine art prints. We order prints directly from many of the largest publishers in the business, and all are of the finest quality.

All of our art is framed and shipped from our Tarzana facility in Southern California.

How do we select our art and framing styles?

We use picture quality acrylic on all of our products. Acrylic is shatter-proof and considerably lighter than glass, making it a safer option for shipping as well as making it a more versatile addition to your home. To get the most use of your acrylic glazing, we recommend always cleaning with a soft cloth to reduce the chance of scratching. Non-ammonia based cleaners should be used to prevent haze or clouding on the surface. To eliminate small scratches and scuff marks we recommend Gel-Gloss brand cleaner and polish, which can be found at most hardware stores. Also be careful to not let any water or cleaning solution to drip down between the frame and glass, as it can seep underneath and potentially damage your matting or print.
